Join us in commemorating the life and legacy of Donald Francis “Butch” Rueth, who peacefully passed away at Brook Gardens in Lake Mills on August 14, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family.

A Proud Legacy: Born to Erwin and Leone (Miller) Rueth on March 11, 1939, Don embraced life’s journey with determination and love. He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with Cathy Szpera, having wed on August 26, 1961.

His dedication remained unwavering as he attended every reunion of his two ships, fostering enduring connections. With wanderlust in their hearts, Don and Cathy explored the United States, leaving footprints in all but 4 states, and ventured across Europe. A fondness for Wisconsin’s casinos also held a special place in Don’s heart.

A Rich Career: Don’s professional journey led him through various construction roles, including ironworking and a noteworthy tenure as a foreman at Watertown Siding, where he retired in 2004.

Cherished Pursuits: An avid outdoorsman, Don thrived as a hunter and fisherman in his earlier years. He cheered passionately for the Packers, Badgers, and eventually the Brewers, epitomizing his sportsmanship.

A Lasting Legacy: Don’s memory lives on through his devoted wife of 62 years; his children Sherry (Ronald Cato) Behnken, Debra (Jim Martinson) Gamble, and Jeff (Lynn) Rueth; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all who were cherished by him.
